1. The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Scholarship is a government initiative aimed at providing financial assistance to students belonging to economically weaker sections of society. Managed by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, this scheme benefits students from Class 9 to post-graduation. Its primary goal is to ensure that no deserving student is deprived of education due to financial constraints.
2. Every year, lakhs of students from UP apply for the scholarship through the Scholarship and Fee Reimbursement Online System (Scholarship Portal). This program covers Pre-Matric, Post-Matric, and Post-Matric Other Than Inter categories for various caste groups, including General, OBC, SC, ST, and Minority communities.
3. Types of UP Scholarships - The UP Government provides several types of scholarships depending on the educational level and caste category of the student. a) Pre-Matric Scholarship Class 9 and 10 students For SC, ST, OBC, Minority, and General category students. Helps cover basic school fees, books, and uniforms. b) Post-Matric Scholarship (Intermediate Level) Class 11 and 12 students For SC, ST, OBC, Minority, and General category students. Supports expenses for tuition, books, and hostel facilities. c) Post-Matric Scholarship (Other Than Intermediate) For students pursuing Graduation, Post-Graduation, Diploma, and Certificate courses. Applicable to SC, ST, OBC, Minority, and General categories. d) Post-Matric Scholarship (Outside the State) For UP students studying in other states in recognized institutions.
4. Eligibility Criteria - To apply for the UP Scholarship, students must meet certain conditions: 1. Domicile: Must be a resident of Uttar Pradesh. 2. Institution Affiliation: Must be studying in a recognized school, college, or university. 3. Educational Qualification: Pre-Matric: Class 9 or 10. Post-Matric: Class 11, 12, or higher education. 4. Income Limit: SC/ST: Up to ₹2,50,000 per year. OBC: Up to ₹2,00,000 per year. Minority: Up to ₹2,00,000 per year. General: Up to ₹2,00,000 per year. 5. Attendance: Must meet minimum attendance criteria set by the institution.
